Elwood P. Dowd is an endlessly pleasant and delightfully eccentric bachelor who isn't quite aware that his newest friend is a 6'3" white rabbit named "Harvey," that only certain people can see.
After supposedly meeting this rabbit, Dowd's sanity is put into question by his equally eccentric sister, Veta, who finds his behavior embarrassing and decides to have him committed to a sanitarium.
Upon arrival, a comedy of errors ensues!
Harvey is a delightful play by American playwright Mary Chase which questions the meaning of a "perfectly normal human being."
